Brawl Stars punishes a single ranked column harder than most games, for three reasons worth deciding on before you start.
Mode decides almost everything. A brawler that dominates Gem Grab can be close to useless in Showdown or Brawl Ball. Ranking "overall" quietly averages incompatible jobs — pick a mode, or build one board per mode.
Star Powers and Gadgets change the unit. Several brawlers are ordinary at base and genuinely strong once unlocked. A board of unlocked brawlers and a board of fresh ones are different documents.
Trophy range moves the answer. Brawlers demanding precise aim or timing climb sharply at higher trophies, where opponents punish mistakes and reward mechanics. Most disagreements about a brawler are really disagreements about which bracket is being ranked.
The roster splits into recognisable jobs — damage dealers and assassins that create pressure, marksmen and artillery that hold range, tanks that take space, and controllers and support that shape a fight without topping the damage chart.
That last group is the one solo-minded boards get wrong most often, because their value lands in a team-mate's result rather than their own.
Rank inside each group first, then merge. It is quicker than comparing a thrower against a tank directly, and produces a board you can actually explain.
