About this template

Rank every killer

All 43 killers are in the tray, from The Trapper through to the newest chapter. Drag them into S through D and build the DBD killer tier list you would defend at your own MMR.

Survivors are not on this board. They are ranked on entirely different criteria — perks and teamplay rather than chase power and map pressure — and mixing the two is where most Dead by Daylight tier lists become unreadable.

New to ranking? How to make a tier list covers the basics, and what S tier means helps when the top row gets crowded.

What moves a killer

Why killer tier lists disagree

Two honest DBD boards can look completely different, and it is almost always one of these rather than one of them being wrong.

Skill floor versus skill ceiling. Several killers are unremarkable until played extremely well and then close to oppressive. Whether you rank the floor or the ceiling changes their row entirely, and most arguments about a killer are really this argument.

Map and add-ons. Some killers swing hard between indoor and open maps, and a strong add-on can carry a mediocre power. Ranking base kits and ranking best builds are different questions.

MMR bracket. A killer that dominates against uncoordinated survivors can struggle badly against a competent team on comms. Decide which you are ranking for, or the board argues with itself.

How to judge

Chase, pressure and information

Most killers are strong or weak for one of three reasons. Chase power — how quickly they end a chase once it starts. Map pressure — whether they can be in two places at once, or punish a generator across the map.

Information — how much they know about where survivors are without walking there. Killers with all three tend to sit at the top regardless of who is holding them.

Judging on those rather than on how a killer feels to play makes a board far easier to explain, and it stops personal favourites drifting a row higher than they earned.
